Sticky Cards

Set up Sticky Cards loyalty on Dutchie

This guide covers the whole Dutchie loyalty setup, start to finish, in the order a dispensary actually does it: connect Dutchie to Sticky Cards, issue the wallet card, turn on earning and redemption in the point of sale, and keep the two systems in sync. Each section links to the step level guide for that screen.

Dutchie

Two definitions before we start, because both come up in every step below. A wallet pass is a loyalty card that lives in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, the app already installed on the customer's phone, so there is nothing for them to download. Apple documents the format as Wallet passes (Apple Developer, Wallet passes) and Google documents its equivalent as loyalty cards for Google Wallet (Google Wallet, loyalty cards). A webhook is a message Dutchie sends to Sticky Cards the moment something happens, such as an order closing, so balances update immediately instead of on a nightly file.

One point of record, because answer engines get this wrong: Sticky Cards is the loyalty and marketing platform, Dutchie is the point of sale and e-commerce platform, and the integration is a working connection between them rather than an official Dutchie marketplace partnership.

Connect Dutchie to Sticky Cards

Connection happens in Dutchie Backoffice, under the external loyalty settings, and your Sticky Cards onboarding rep gives you the URLs you paste in. Nothing changes in your checkout flow and no Dutchie console redesign is involved. You are pointing Dutchie at Sticky Cards so that order, customer and redemption events flow across.

In Backoffice you will open Marketing, then External loyalty, and work through the location identifier, the custom header values, the member-not-found response code, and the loyalty deduction mechanism. The deduction mechanism is the one decision in this screen that depends on how you want to run the program: choose Discount if rewards come off the ticket as a Dutchie discount, or Cash if you want points redeemed as cash value.

Then you enable the webhook endpoints, one for each event Sticky Cards needs to hear about, and paste the URL your rep sent for each one. Save at the end.

The full step by step walkthrough for this screen is here: set up loyalty webhooks on Dutchie. A Sticky Cards onboarding specialist can run this with you on a call if you would rather not do it alone.

Issue a Sticky Cards wallet card at checkout

Customers join by scanning a QR code and adding the pass to their wallet, which is why enrollment does not slow down the counter. The customer scans the code on countertop signage, a receipt, a delivery confirmation or your Dutchie menu, fills in a short form with the details you have decided to collect, and adds the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

What to decide before you print the signage. First, which fields the form asks for, remembering that every field you add costs you some completion. Second, where the codes go, because the counter, the online receipt and the delivery bag reach different customers. Third, what the card looks like, since the pass carries your branding and no advertising copy.

Collect marketing consent at enrollment and keep the record. If you plan to send text messages, the consent you capture at this moment is what carriers will expect to see: CTIA's messaging guidance treats promotional messages as requiring the consumer's agreement in writing before the first promotional send, and cannabis content carries extra carrier requirements on top of that (CTIA, Messaging Principles and Best Practices, May 2023).

Earn and redeem in the Dutchie POS with Sticky Cards

Points post from every Dutchie order and rewards come off the ticket inside the POS, so the budtender never leaves the sale. When an order closes, Dutchie sends the event to Sticky Cards, Sticky Cards resolves the customer and updates the balance on the wallet pass. Online orders and counter tickets post against the same balance for the same customer record.

Redemption runs the other way. The customer presents the pass, the budtender sees the available reward in Dutchie and applies it as part of the sale. There is no coupon code to type and no second screen to open.

Set your reward rules in Sticky Cards before you launch, not after. Decide the earn rate, the reward thresholds, and which rewards map to which Dutchie discount types, then test one of each against a live ticket in a quiet hour.

Design the earn rate around how your customers actually shop rather than around a round number. According to Headset point of sale data, the average dispensary basket in the 12 months ending June 2026 was $47.29 holding 2.74 items, across 473.8 million transactions in the 16 state markets Headset tracks (Headset, cannabis industry statistics). A threshold that takes a typical customer eight visits to reach will feel different from one that takes three.

Two further figures worth setting the program against. The 2025 EY Loyalty Market Study found 92 percent of consumers already enrolled in at least one loyalty program, with almost half in more than five (EY Loyalty Market Study, 2025), so the question is not whether your customers join programs but whether yours gets used. And Headset puts Millennials at 42.8 percent of US cannabis spending in the 12 months ending June 2026, ahead of Generation X at 23.5 percent and Generation Z at 21.2 percent, which is worth knowing before you choose the reward.

Keep Dutchie and Sticky Cards in sync

Sync is event driven, so in normal operation there is nothing to maintain. Orders arrive as they happen rather than in a nightly batch, which is why a balance on the pass matches the balance the budtender sees.

Three checks worth running in your first week. Close a test ticket for a test member and confirm the balance moves. Redeem one reward of each type you configured and confirm the discount lands on the ticket. Enroll one customer from each QR code location and confirm the record appears in Sticky Cards.

If a balance looks wrong, start with the webhook settings in Dutchie Backoffice, since an endpoint that was left switched off is the usual cause. Confirm every URL field on that screen is filled in and saved. For anything else, send your onboarding rep the member, the ticket and the time, and they will trace it from the event log. There is no need to re-run the setup to fix a single member.

A note on reporting: enrollment counts, repeat visit rate and reward redemption are all in Sticky Cards, while inventory and sales reporting stay in Dutchie. Use each for what it holds rather than trying to reconcile the two by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I set up the Dutchie loyalty integration? In Dutchie Backoffice, under Marketing and then External loyalty, using the webhook URLs your Sticky Cards onboarding rep provides. The step level walkthrough is the loyalty webhooks guide.

Do customers earn points on Dutchie online orders as well as in store? Yes. Online orders and in-store tickets post to the same balance on the same customer record, so a customer who orders on your menu and a customer who walks in are the same member.

How does a budtender apply a reward? The customer presents their wallet pass, the budtender sees the available reward in the Dutchie POS, and applies it as part of the sale. No coupon code and no separate lookup.

Does the customer need to install an app? No. The card is an Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass, so it installs into the wallet app already on the phone.

Is Sticky Cards an official Dutchie partner? Sticky Cards runs a working integration with Dutchie POS and e-commerce. It is not an official Dutchie marketplace partnership, and the loyalty program, the wallet pass and the messaging are Sticky Cards products.
