Dispensary customers who last bought 8 to 30 days ago: your active regulars

Your active list, and your most useful exclusion

The Last purchase 8-30 days ago segment in Sticky Cards includes every dispensary customer whose most recent completed purchase was 8 to 30 days ago, which excludes the last 7 days.

Your list of people currently in the habit. It is as useful for who it leaves out as for who it contains.

The gap on the right is deliberate. Anyone who bought in the last seven days is in Last purchase 0-7 days, not here.

What is the Last purchase 8-30 days ago segment?

Everyone here made their most recent purchase 8 to 30 days ago. The last seven days are deliberately excluded: someone who bought on Tuesday is in Last purchase 0-7 days, not here.

It has two jobs, and the second one is the more valuable. The first is obvious: a reliable audience for a monthly promotion. The second is as an exclusion. Almost every win-back campaign you run should subtract this segment, because the fastest way to waste a message is to send "we miss you" to someone who came in last Tuesday.

That exclusion is what makes this band useful. Everyone here is active, and none of them paid you in the last week, so a promotion lands on someone who is due a trip rather than on someone still carrying the last bag home.

All four rows matter on this segment, because it is large enough to run real channel comparisons on. If you only ever test one thing in Sticky Cards, test the same offer to this list split by channel, and let the result decide where the rest of your budget goes.

What should a dispensary send to your active regulars?

The monthly promotionEmail

Your dependable send. This audience is active, so you are competing with their habit rather than their memory, and email gives you the room to make a case.

The exclusion on every win-backAny

Not a send at all. Add it under "Don’t send to" on anything aimed at lapsed customers. It is the single highest-value use of this segment and it costs nothing.

The loyalty enrolment pushSMS

Cross it with Has No Loyalty and you have active customers who are not yet on a card. That is the shortest path to growing your loyalty base, because these people are already coming in.

The event or in-store dayEmail and Push

Anything with a date attached wants an audience that is currently paying attention. Email carries the detail, push carries the reminder on the morning.

Ideas to try

The channel test

Take one offer, split this segment in half, send by email to one half and SMS to the other. Compare revenue per recipient rather than opens. Run it once a quarter and you will stop guessing which channel your store actually responds to.

Something new for the month ahead

Enrolment blast to active non-members

Cross this segment with Has No Loyalty and send a Campaign Blast about what a card gets them. These are the easiest sign-ups in your account because they are already walking through the door.

The standing exclusion habit

Not a campaign. Make it a rule: any blast written for people who have drifted gets this segment under "Don’t send to" before it goes. It takes five seconds and it protects your best customers from your clumsiest message.

No subject line: this one is a setting, not a send

The month-end filler

If the month is running behind, this is the list that can still move it. Run a Campaign Blast in the last week with a real reason attached, and keep it to once a month so it stays worth reading.

Worth a trip before the month is out

What to measure

Watch the size of this segment as a share of everyone who has ever bought from you. That ratio is your activity rate, and it is a better health check than any single campaign result. On the sends themselves, use revenue per recipient so a large list does not flatter a weak offer.

Questions we get

Is this the same as my active customer count?

It is the closest single band to it, but it is not all of them. Add Last purchase 0-7 days to this one and you have everyone who bought in the last month. Stack all four bands and you have the quarter.

Why would I exclude a segment instead of just not sending to it?

Because your send is usually built from a different list. When you blast the absent customers, adding this segment under "Don’t send to" removes anyone who has quietly come back since the list was built.

Can someone be on this and on an absent list at the same time?

No. The four last-purchase bands are exclusive, so a customer sits in exactly one of them, and buying at all takes them off the no-purchase lists. That is exactly why the exclusion works.
