Dispensary customers with no marketing opt-in: how to reach them
Count the customers you have no way of reaching
The No Channels Opted-In segment in Sticky Cards includes every dispensary customer with no opt-in for any channel.
A list you do not send to. Its value is in knowing how big it is and fixing it in store.
What is the No Channels Opted-In segment?
Everyone here has bought from you and has no opt-in for any channel. You cannot email them, you cannot text them, and there is no push to send.
So this page is not about a campaign. Nothing on this list should receive a message, and any tactic that worked around that would be the wrong advice however well it performed. What the segment is for is measurement and for fixing the cause.
The cause is almost always the counter. Consent is asked for at sign-up, and a store where this segment is growing has a till habit that has slipped rather than a marketing problem. That is fixable, and it is fixable this week rather than next quarter.

Every row here will be empty or close to it, and that is the correct reading rather than a fault. The number to care about is the total: this segment against your whole customer base is the share of your customers you have no way of talking to.
What should a dispensary send to customers you cannot message?
The counter conversationIn store
The only channel available and the one that works. Consent is asked for face to face at the till, which is also where someone is most likely to say yes.
The receipt or bag insertIn store
Something physical that explains what signing up gets them. It reaches a customer you otherwise cannot reach at all, on a visit that is already happening.
The staff promptIn store
Not a customer-facing campaign. Make the ask part of the transaction and this segment stops growing, which matters more than shrinking the part of it that already exists.
Ideas to try
The monthly count
Track this segment as a share of your customer base each month. Rising means your counter habit has slipped. It is a two-minute check that surfaces a problem no campaign report will show you.

The till habit
Make the consent ask part of how a transaction closes, and measure it by staff member. This segment is created one transaction at a time and that is the only place it can be fixed.

No subject line: this one is a conversation at the counter
The in-store explanation
A card at the till or in the bag saying what a customer gets from signing up. It reaches this group on their next visit, which is the only contact you have with them.

No subject line: this one is printed, not sent
The recent-buyer check
Cross this segment with Last purchase 8-30 days to see how many people are shopping with you right now that you cannot contact. That number is usually higher than operators expect and it makes the case for the counter habit on its own.

Related segments to pair it with
- Has No LoyaltyHeavy overlap. Both describe customers you cannot see properly, and both are fixed by the same conversation at the till.
- Last purchase 8-30 daysCross them to count the active customers you have no way of contacting. The clearest version of the problem this page describes.
- Email Opted-InDon’t send toSet this as your exclusion on any reach count. Mixing the two makes your addressable audience look larger than it is, and planning against that number is how a campaign underdelivers.
What to measure
This segment as a share of your total customers, monthly. That is the only number on this page and it is the one that matters, because it caps how much of your customer base your marketing can ever touch. If it is rising, the problem is at the till and it will not show up anywhere else until months of marketing have underperformed.
Questions we get
Can I message this segment anyway?
No. They have agreed to no channel, and that is the end of it. The only contact available is in store on their next visit.
Why does this segment exist at all if I cannot send to it?
Because it measures a real problem. It tells you what share of your customers your marketing can never reach, and it is the fastest way to notice that consent collection at the counter has slipped.
How do I shrink it?
At the till. Make the consent ask part of closing a transaction and track it by staff member. This list is built one sale at a time and that is where it gets unbuilt.
